Women as a force for nature

Our Journey

In the Zambezi River basin of central Mozambique -and almost forgotten epicenter of biodiversity - lies the Macossa-Tambara Ecosystem- a vast Miombo forest home to lions, leopards, elephants, pangolins, and 40,000 people who have safeguarded life here over aeons.

We are Associação NATURA Moçambique and a family of organizations, communities, investors, and governmental partners who have committed to the long term restoration and protection of this precious ecosystem.

By restoring and protecting this wild landscape, supporting and nurturing the wellbeing of next-generations, developing nature-based economies that center women and demand climate justice and build climate resilience, and training and empowering future environmental leaders, we aim to set a living example of what is possible when Mozambicans have the space to lead and innovate in safeguarding their nation's biodiversity and turning the tide on climate disruption.
