Elephant Crisis Fund Joins the Macossa-Tambara Partnership!

Updated: May 19

The Elephant Crisis Fund (ECF) team has unrivalled continent-wide knowledge of the unique threats to African elephants and a vast network of collaborators. The ECF funds the best ideas and most urgent actions by trusted conservation organizations working to safeguard the future of elephants. The ECF fosters collaboration and delivers rapid impact on the ground, with 100% of every dollar deployed directly to the field. The ECF’s goal is to end the ivory crisis and secure a future for elephants.

This is why we could not be prouder to have the support of ECF to launch coexistence programming in the Macossa-Tambara. Elephants are ecosystem engineers, and keystones of ecosystem integrity. Elephant populations are also important regulators of C02, therefore coexistence between humans and elephants is where ecology meets climate justice.

ECF's will directly support 3 core communities including training and supporting the 1st cohort of Community Elephant Guardians and immediate implementation of coexistence designs (elephant-proof silos, beehives fences, and more) in communities positioned in the middle of an elephant corridors and experiencing conflict during the food-growing and harvesting seasons..

We believe coexistence is possible, and the investment of ECF will help safeguard and recover a critically endangered population and support communities that until now have been largely off the radar and unsupported. Our team brings multiple-decades of direct experience and passion in growing coexistence and safeguarding elephants to the work we do, and it is a honor to partner with organizations like the Elephant Crisis Fund that recognize the immense potential of this precious ecosystem.

Stay tuned for updates from the field! #climatejustice #elephants #MacossaTambara #Mozambique
